Kent FA hosted a Female Volunteer Forum on Monday 6 March 2023, the second of the year, which was a great opportunity for female volunteers to get together and discuss their experiences and ideas. I attended along with Paul Chick and it was a great opportunity to speak to others about both the challenges and triumphs women have experienced in football.
The evening comprised of a workshop led by guest speaker, Claire Foy, a mentor and coach, followed by a Q&A Session with a panel of five people who have each had various experiences in football. There was also an opportunity for networking with likeminded people. Further information on the evening and the next event run by Kent FA can be found here – https://www.kentfa.com/news/2023/mar/07/kent-female-volunteer-forum-a-resounding-success
Although the OBDSFL is currently a Sunday league for male players, I would like this opportunity on International Women’s Day to thank all of the women involved in the OBDSFL whether they are working behind the scenes for the league, volunteering for our member clubs or refereeing on a Sunday morning to ensure football is an opportunity for all. I would also like to extend my thanks to all of the male allies in the league who are supporting women and making football more inclusive for all.
